ReUse!

I brought my family to the Stone Arch Festival of the Arts in Minneapolis Mn this weekend. We got some really great ideas from and organization called ArtStart. ArtStart is an award-winning,non-profit arts organization dedicated to providing quality arts education for children and adults. They had a activity book with a great idea. Here is a way that you can reuse CD cases.

It looked as if they were using Elmer's Glue and a variety of beans. The one on the right also has a mirrored sheet of paper in it.

  2. This is very cool-looking. Anything looks prettier under glass or with a sheen - this CD case re-use does that, and holds the beans together.

  4. Hello! We used this excellent idea during our Roman Day a couple of weeks ago. I finally got round to blogging some of our results and thought you might be interested (I've of course linked back to here!)

Thanks again for the lovely idea

    1. Hello! I'm trying to figure out whether it's feasible to do this for a class of 28 3rd-graders. I realize there are lots of variables, but if we give them approximately 2 bags of beans and 30 minutes, could they accomplish most of it?? Thinking more free art instead of careful pattern development. Thanks for your words of wisdom based on experience!

    2. In my opinion.... I think you need more time. But it might work for you... I'm sorry I can't be of more help.

  5. My Laugh & Learn Storytime here at our local library is going to try this. I think since they are so young that I will print a picture and tape it to the bottom of the cd case and then let them glue in the seeds or beans. I haven't decided what drawing to put on the back or which to use...beans or seeds. Do you guys have any tips for me? Thank you
