I read the book 'The Goat in the Rug' to my first graders on the final day of weaving. Well, they were done with the weavings and I had taken them off from the loom. In the past I hand them back and we play a game or something else for the rest of the hour. This year we made the goat puppet you see above.
The kids did a worksheet with the remaining time in class. The worksheet was about the process of our weaving... as the book was about the process of Navajo weaving process.
The kids LOVED their little goat friends. They LOVED their little rugs and I love that this project can take 3 to 4 weeks and carries us nicely to the end of the year!
I like the worksheet idea!
