Students worked off a grid for this group project. When they were finished working on their personal butterfly, I asked them to create a section of an image I had printed on a grid. The artwork was put together and we discussed the idea of variety in an artwork. The students could use any medium in their section, and you can clearly see the variation of their styles as well as medium. I found this to be a good way to illustrate this idea in a short amount of time. It was also good for my early finishers.
