Shadow Words

Had fun with our Shadow Words again!  (click here to see the previous posts)  This quarter I changed a couple of things with the set up that made it a bit more successful.

As I have done in the past, I asked the kids to create a work sculpture.  The sculpture was placed on a black sheet of paper with a light on the side.  I was intentional in making sure the light sources was in the photograph taken.  This way when the students were drawing and adding value to their final work they were able to show the light source (the lightest, light) and the black background (the darkest, dark) and compare every part of the drawing to these two points.  This made teaching and explaining value a bit easier.
