Expanding the Classroom Walls, Carpenter St. Croix Valley Nature Center

We wrapped up our first week with a trip to the Carpenter Nature Center. This was an amazingly beautiful site overlooking the St. Croix Valley.  Stunning.  There were hiking tours and nature to watch over all the grounds.  They had some wonderful educational offerings on site as well.

We lucked out because they were tagging birds a the site.  A practice I understand they do every Friday.  The group also released an Eagle from the Raptor Center that morning. They had turtles, snakes, birds, and toads inside the welcome center for kids to watch and learn from.

Unfortunately, this site is too far away from my school to be able to bring my classes.  If you are close to Hastings, MN... I encourage you to visit for sure!
