Darn Glitter...

Still not a fan of glitter but I have found ways to deal with it. Here I have a glitter station. When students were finished with their projects they could add a few touches of glue to give the skull a little jazz. They cam back and poured one color of glitter on the glue and dumped it off into a tray. Yep, these are trays from Panara Bread... I found a bunch at a garage sale, they ROCK!

  1. I too love to have the glitter at stations, it really helps. Of course I still somehow end up seeing pieces of it in my room for months after, but oh well the kids love it. I'm glad I am not the only art teacher that isn't a fan of glitter, bleh!

  2. I am not a fan of glitter, to put it mildly. Years ago I gave away any glitter that was in my art room, though I'm happy to provide glitter-glue. I think I despise glitter as much as a parent as a teacher. You may think the glitter is all well-attached, but when the project gets home, glitter ends up in the rugs, everywhere! Ugh, I even dislike those holiday cards you receive that are glittery. Then I find glitter on my kitchen counter, in the couch cushions, etc... And in the art room, glitter "comes back" day after day - in the sponges, stuck to tables, and so on. So I have happily made my art room a GLITTER-FREE ZONE!!

  3. I used sequins for our skulls which worked well. Only about 10,000 on the floor instead of 1,000,000,000 pieces of glitter. When I swept them up the faculty was saying how beautiful the dirt in the art room is! But I do like glitter:) In a station of course. Hey can we see your skulls? They look awesome!

  4. Oh my! I used glitter my first year teaching. I had a glitter tray for each table, demoed how to apply the glitter and thought it would be just wonderful..... I have not used glitter sense and I am still cleaning glitter out of my cubbies from 2 years ago when I did do that lesson....
