Become an Illustrator for The Ickabog, by J. K. Rowling Book.

J.K. Rowling The Ickabog Illustration Competition

I was so excited by the announcement of J.K. Rowling a couple days ago. She explained that she is releasing a book called The Ickabog for children who are limited by the 'Stay at Home' order. She will be releasing a chapter or two from today through June 10th on a new website dedicated to this project, The Ickabog

As if that isn't exciting enough... there is an illustration challenge as well. Artist between 7 and 12 years old can create artwork and submit them to a Scholastic Sponsored Competition. Here are some of the things to keep in mind.
  • You need to be between the ages of 7-12 years-old
  • Create your work on a 8 1/2 x 11" blank paper.
  • The illustration can be vertical or horizontal
  • A parent must submit the work on the website by July 17
  • You must keep a portfolio (that means keep all your art for this competition) incase you win, they will need your original artwork.
  • Judges are looking for imagination, creativity, and interpretation of the selected illustration theme
  • There are awards as well... See the website for specifics.
  • You can only submit one image per 'Installment'
It looks to me that an installment is based on days of the story released and the chapters. So, for this first installment, you can draw an illustration of King Fred the Fearless, or Lord Spittleworth, and so on as shown below. See all the installments here.
