I would like to invite you to some upcoming events. This will help you connect with some amazing #PLN's and truly inspire you to be the educator you want to be. Take action! Get out of your comfort zone! Be inspired by creative, innovative people.
First let me invite you to some Twitter Chats. DON'T STOP READING!! I know, Twitter chats can be a little scary when you haven't done them before, and even if you have, they might seem overwhelming... but I'm telling you Chats on Twitter really is some amazingly valuable Professional Development. You are talking with others who have the same goals as you do, or might challenge your thoughts. It's quick and action provoking. Here are two safe ones to start out with in January.
I also have been honored to present at two upcoming online conferences. That's what I said, ONLINE! That means no matter where you are, you can join us, be inspired with us.
As just a little tease!! I'm excited to share about my presentation at the National Art Education Conference. Online conferences are wonderful, but I also very much value the personal connection. The hand shaking, smile giving, pat on the back, person to person interaction. Call me old fashion. I will be posting a lot more about this, but wanted to give you a heads up that you should get registered, book a flight, get a hotel room and have the best St. Patrick's Day of your life with thousands of your dear Art Teach'n friends.

#K12ArtChat: This chat takes place 8:30 pm CST. I will be hosting on Thurs. the 7th. I'm telling you, this is a wonderful chat with people from all over the world. Administration, creative thinkers and Art teachers all join in on this half hour conversation. We have had a lot of philosophy conversation and I wanted to bring this chat to a 'action' conversation. I would like to hear how you implement stop motion animation into your classroom. If you have not... JOIN US. You are going to fine some great hints, and inspiration. I love this tribe... I know you will to.
#WiArtChat: This Chat takes place Monday night at 7PM CST. I live in Minnesota but went to school at the University of Wisconsin Stout. I love that school, that state! My husbands family is in WI, we worked in WI for a period of time... I love the sweet state, so I was honored to be asked to host this Chat. This chat is NOT for only art teachers, or even just for art teachers in WI. It's for you, especially this one. I'm very excited to chat about my favorite initiative these days, 'The Connect Effect'. This conversation will be most successful with a large group of people with different backgrounds!! We need to show our students how to connect with each other, our community and the world. This is the conversation that we will be having January 11th at 7 CST. Please join us!

This Conference is made for Art teachers and teachers who are interested in incorporating more art into their classrooms. I will be presenting on 'The Connect Effect' for this conference. I will briefly talk about some of the past ways that I have connected my students to people and experiences outside of the classroom walls. But this presentation is focusing on a recently completed project. I connected with retired adults in my community. I will be posting more on this presentation very soon. You should come to this conference because of this presentation, I truly feel that it was that impacting on my students. But more so, you should come to see the other presenters. Famous Art Educators, and Creative Thinkers will be leading this amazing conference that you can 'show up for' in your P.J.'s. I'm telling you, it's invaluable.
This is a STEAM online conference. I know that there are many people who are focusing on STEAM in their districts and classroom. That is why you need to attend this conference. One of the presentations I will be doing is centered around the digital portion of our Artist Trading Card Swap. I am using Creatubbles in my 4th grade this year and falling in love. I can't wait to share the 'how' of using Creatubbles as well as the 'why'. I will also have two other 'bonus' presentations. One, on using social media as professional development and the other about Stop Motion Animation.
